Apple stops signing iOS 10.1 and iOS 10.1.1! Downgrade no longer possible!

8 days after Apple released iOS 10.2 to the public, they released iOS 10.2.1 beta 2. But that’s not all that happened. Most notably, Apple stopped signing iOS 10.1 and iOS 10.1.1. On Sunday, I could sense that the window was slowly closing completely. The window was cracked a little bit.

People have been crazy about iOS 10.1 and especially iOS 10.1.1 because of Google Zero releasing their exploit.

Sunday night I took the plunge. I bit the bullet and -option click check for updated from iOS 9.3.3 to iOS 10.1.1.

Earlier today Apple dropped iOS 10.1.2 Beta 2. Eh. No big deal plus since I was in class I was a half hour late to covering it. I tweeted this.

As I walked home from school I felt like oddly enough that wasn’t it. Later tonight maybe something will happen. And that it did.

Woah! Apple stopped signing 10.1. Alright not too big of a deal right now but that means Apple will eventually kill iOS 10.1.1 probably within the hour.
I try to plug in my device to the computer and fix it so I can use Super Mario Run on my 6s without it thinking I have a jailbreak while tweeting this..

And then within minutes I see this.

Well, that killed all hope to try to fix it. Oh well. I guess when a jailbreak comes out it won’t matter anyway. Hopefully. I took to twitter to say this.

I then followed up by saying

It seemed like the TSS account had a lot more to say this time within the span of a few seconds in between.

Man. Guess Apple was getting a little bit crazy messing around with the servers unsigning stuff. I was annoyed so I replied to the TSS account by saying

So in the end I had this to say.

..and…. that’s that. Apple has stopped signing iOS 10.1 and iOS 10.1.1 so any effort to downgrade without the use of shsh is not possible. Timstar has said that when his tool prometheus releases, as long as users saved their shsh2 blobs, they will be able to downgrade. For now though, regardless users can not downgrade.
